Law and Legislation

Use this guide for identifying and locating legal information for the United States, and for the State of Vermont.

United States Code

The United States Statutes at Large is the collection of all laws enacted by Congress.  Laws passed during the earliest years of the founding of our nation, in chronological order, may be found in A Century of Lawmaking for a New Nation, part of the American Memory Project at the Library of Congress. This invaluable digital record of primary sources created during the legislative process includes the Continental Congress, Constitutional Convention, the Journals of Congress, the Debates of Congress and Statutes and Documents.
