Academic Support, DH & WS

       Front Desk Attendants (WS) : For specific shift, Tuesday 10-noon, 2-4pm and Thursday 10-noon, job status: OPEN

  •    Job Description: Must be able to effectively communicate with faculty, staff, and students. Front desk attendants are responsible for greeting walk-ins and answering the phone, introducing visitors to desired resources. Must have a friendly and approachable demeanor and be eager to help. Job may include data entry, organization, and scheduling tasks. Reliability a must.

    •    Test Proctors needed to oversee the testing room. 
      • The proctor must be able to: Communicate easily with  peers; Enforce the rules of the testing room; Read and follow the terms put out by professors on the test request sheets; Be willing to ask for help from staff members, if a tricky situation happens;  Be willing to do other odd jobs (like scanning books) when necessary; Be dependable.

    • JOB DESCRIPTION: Must be able to effectively communicate with students seeking help. Qualified applicants will have received a minimum acceptable grade of B+ in ENG-1081 and ENG-1082. Admissions Office, WS

  • Student Office Professionals.  W/S or DH.
    • The right candidate is professional, positive, passionate about NVU, maintains a minimum of a 2.5 GPA, and is a good steward of our campus community.  Position begins in the second semester, though there will be some paid training before break.  The position entails supporting the admissions staff in the office by assisting in our initiatives, making an excellent first impression to prospective students, giving campus tours, prospective student outreach, and working at our Admissions events.
    • This position requires a minimum of 2 letters of recommendation from Faculty or Staff.


  • Admissions TeleCounselor, job status OPEN (WS)

The TeleCounselor is a crucial part of the admissions team and helps recruit our next freshman and transfer class. They report directly to the Visit Coordinator or to the Student Office Professionals in the Visit Coordinators absence. They are responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Make outbound calls to recruit prospective students to generate interest, encourage applications and registration for upcoming events.

  • Each night work toward making 18 or more completed calls or over 100 attempted calls with prospective students and entering an interest score and submitting thorough notes into the SLATE CRM for the admissions counselors (training will be provided).

  • Becoming very familiar with the Slate CRM software to be as efficient and knowledgeable as possible when making calls (training will be provided).

  • Follow up with any situations that may require additional information or help from either the Student Office Professionals or the Visit Coordinator.

  • Write personalized postcards to prospective students.

  • Seek to consistently expand knowledge of University academic and extracurricular programs to be able to assist students within their area of interest and provide correct information regarding such areas.

  • Complete all other assignments given by the Visit Coordinator.

America Reads (Literacy in the Kingdom), WS

Reading Partner - Tutor , job status: OPEN

       Work with individual children or small groups (pre K through  4th grade). Provide one on one reading practices and enjoyment through conversation and re-reading familiar books - hands-on activities such as writing, letter play and word games - reading aloud - interacting with children as they read new books. Individual time requirements vary according to site needs. Example site locations include local school districts and local libraries.

o   Enjoy working with children, reliable, respects confidentiality, agrees to background check per site requirements, attend mandatory training sessions, must have own transportation to and from site.

o  Participate in the planning and execution of events planned by the IA and Alumni Offices, including generating invitations, tracking responses, event setups, etc., following through with all details including tracking and monitoring income and expense reports and participate in requested events.  Participate in cultivation efforts including performing research on various constituencies on request via mail, telephone, internet, and compile/update information for the dean, director, and administrative assistant.  Assist in the collection and input of stories for the alumni news.  Perform all other office duties as requested for IA, Alumni and Development, including generating letters, envelopes, mailings, telephone, and filing. Job qualifications: Previous office experience preferred, but not required.  Must be reliable, conscientious, self-assured, personable, and energetic.  Possess friendly and professional manner and be comfortable working with a wide variety of constituencies.  Good typing skills and strong computer skills with the ability to learn new programs required. Data entry experience and working knowledge of Microsoft excel desired.  Excellent attention to detail required.  The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 to 4.  The days and times are flexible.
